Hi! I’m José Antonio Moreno, a Lead Game Designer and Game Director with over 10 years of professional experience creating video games and interactive experiences.
My career has always revolved around making games. In 2017, I co-founded Campero Games, where I spent six years working across game design, production and direction while helping grow the studio from a team of 3 to 25 professionals.
For the past few years, I have been working at Odders Lab on games and applications for Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality. During this time, I have taken on roles across game design, production and game direction, and I currently work as Lead Designer. I have contributed to projects developed in collaboration with major brands and technology companies such as LES MILLS, Meta and PICO.
Alongside my professional work, I continue developing independent games under the name Paparajote Games. I am currently working on Grombo Card Shop Idle, an absurd idle game about running a trading card shop.
Throughout my career, I have worked on gameplay and systems design, game economy, level design, UX, balancing, monetization and analytics, both as a hands-on designer and as a design lead. While immersive technologies have become an important part of my recent career, my main passion has always been creating video games and turning ideas into engaging experiences.
Outside game development, I run MorenoPokeCards, a Spanish-speaking YouTube channel focused on the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Through videos, livestreams and community initiatives, I have gained hands-on experience in content creation, audience building and communicating complex topics in an accessible and entertaining way.
Throughout my career, I have worked on many games, but Campero Games is the project that has shaped me the most.
In 2017, I co-founded the studio with two partners. Over the following six years, I combined hands-on game design with the challenges of building and running a company: seeking funding, preparing budgets and project proposals, pitching to publishers, attending industry events, managing projects and supporting the growth of the team.
Campero Games grew from a three-person team to a studio of 25 industry professionals at its peak. More than any individual project, the experience taught me how to lead teams, manage people, make difficult decisions and create an environment where talented people could do their best work.
That journey continues to influence the way I approach game design, production and leadership today.
